Happy Negative 100 Years Old, Doraemon!

3rd September 2012
Today was exactly 100 years before the birth of Doraemon according to the statistics written by his author, Fujiko F. Fujio.

A short synopsis about Doraemon by me: Doraemon is a futuristic robotic cat that was sent by Nobita's great grandson, hoping to change Nobita's sluggish lifestyle. Doraemon initially was yellow in colour, but lost his ears after being bitten by rats while he was asleep. Poor living owing to Nobita's slothful routine caused Doraemon to be not able to replace new ears due to extremely high cost of fixing and reinstating new ones. Doraemon became a laugh stock to his girlfriend, whom soon dump him due to his atrocious looks. Doraemon became very disheartened and because of this, he cried for several days causing his original yellow colour to fade into blue. Not long after that, Doraemon rides his Time Machine back to Nobita's generation in bid to change and help Nobita, Various humorous, heart-pumping, tears-dropping scenes and journey were encountered by Doraemon and his friends, with Doraemon actually going out of battery at it's final episode. Nobita changed soon after realizing that Doraemon's battery went dehydrated and there were no method to replace them due to various incidents happening at that particular time. Nobita became very emotional and many many years later, he became an engineer and discovered various technologies to reattach Doraemon's ears which are batteries with installed memories.

I started 'worshiping' Doraemon at very young age, forgot when it all started. But, if memory serves me right, it all started when my dad stopped by a sundry shop nearby my house to buy dinner on one fine day very long ago. There was this Doraemon Comic which costs RM4.50 each and out of a sudden, my dad bought it over for me. My very first Doraemon Comic was Nobita and Dinosaur, the first ever long story Doraemon Comic Series. I still remember I cried everytime reading the ending of it.

My interest in Doraemon soon grew larger as I urge my parents and grandparents to buy more Doraemon comics for me. Boys are boys, I didn't keep most of my comics properly, so majority of them were torn and damaged by now due to improper house keeping. Nevertheless, my love towards Doraemon grew at very young age. Happy Birthday Doraemon!

I am a Level 1 EE Engineer

27th August 2012.
It has really been a long time since I last blogged, same old sentence everytime I write a post. Mostly this year, I have only been blogging about events and movies around me; unlike last year where I puked partly of my emotions and feelings here. Nonetheless, my Second Year Second Semester final examinations is just days away and I have been really easy on my studies. Today, I'm really starting to fear out as my preparation was not that well due to lazyness and funny internet temptations; lately, there are just too many Gangnam Style parodies that tempted me to waste most of my time hogging on the internet. I shall bring an end to all this right now and start focusing on the 5 final paper subjects that I'm going to undertake soon.

Recently, I have been hampered by my Microprocessor project, in which the viva date will be tomorrow. I opted to be alone in this project; at first worrying that I might not make it, but time proves that I have successfully implemented my project proposal as planned. I spent mostly 2 weeks alone constructing and programming 3 circuit boards and alas, I made it on time. Everything should function well and hope for the best tomorrow.

I named my project: Intelligent Bascule Bridge System

Board 1: Structure along the Bascule Bridge

Board 2: Bascule Bridge Toll Payment

Board 3: Bascule Bridge Password Maintenance System

A collection of 3 Boards

Together with a 198-page report to be submitted

SEDEX30

8th and 9th of August 2012

My 4th Science and Engineering Design Exhibition and my last one as committee. Being able to hold the position as the Project Director of SEDEX30 was like a dream come true.

SEDEX was supposed to be held every semester, twice a year for the Engineering Team Project and Final Year Project students to get the opportunity to display their most innovative designs and prototypes. I started in EDX27 as a small Secretariat Department Committee before being the Head of Secretariat Department in SEDEX28. I was promoted as the Special Task Committee (Event Division Manager) in SEDEX29 and finally hold the most outstanding position in SEDEX30 as the Project Director.

SEDEX30 was the 30th time it was held in UTP since 1998. Being in SEDEX for 3 times, I am very sure about every department's jobscopes.

I'm not sure whether I'm leading the whole board well, but in the end, everything went well. Being the project director is seriously not easy. There are many problems that pop out in the last minute and require last minute solutions. However, i would also like to thank all my committees for making this event a success. SEDEX30 marks my last event that I'm going to join in UTP. I would like to retire from any events and focus only on my studies and researches to be a truthful Electrical and Electronics Engineer.

Note: I personally will take part in SEDEX31 as participant if my Engineering Team Project is chosen to enter SEDEX31. Wish everyone goodluck and all the best. SEDEX is really a platform for me to excel and throughout these 4 semesters, I have known various people and learn many things. I will seriously miss SEDEX and the 14 weeks handling SEDEX31 and also not forgetting all the 4 EDX27, SEDEX28, SEDEX29 and SEDEX30 fun that I had.

To get to the top is not easy at all!

Wisma Celcom Field Trip

At the meantime, I was too hampered with tons of assignments and projects, so this will be a short post. Sorry blog for not updating you frequently and on time.

26 July 2012
I went to Wisma Celcom together with my course mates for a field trip. Around 40 of us gathered at the bus station at 6am and departed to Kuala Lumpur around 6.30am. The journey took around 3 hours and we reached the destination around 10am. There were talks by the person-in-charge about the plans and systems in Celcom; how prepaid, postpaid, SMS and broadband internet system works.

Besides that, we were also shown the monitoring system room that is supposed to be private and confidential. We were exposed to how the workers work and monitor the Celcom's systems around the world. No pictures were allowed to be taken in the room and we were told that only 13 people are allowed to enter the room to prevent any disturbance of the systems.

We were then brought to the roof top of Wisma Celcom to witness the Satellite dishes and Cables. After that, we headed to Kepong to witness another Celcom Station whereby, we had the chance to see various machines working together to get the communication systems in Celcom working properly. Those systems and machines were too technical to be understood at the meantime.

Batman + Spiderman

Two amazing movies back to back in one week.

20th July 2012
Watched Dark Knight Rises, which is the third series of Batman movie after Batman Begins and Dark Knight. The movie was 2 hours 30 minutes long and the story line was just too awesome and amazing to be described. Gotham City was again in trouble and how Batman save the city was again too awesome. I was at the new Station 18 Jusco Cinema with Ziyi, BanSiong, Charles, MeiSan and KianPing

27th July 2012
Watched The Amazing Spiderman. Almost the whole story line of this movie was different from the previous ones; even the actor and actress were different. Many felt that the old one was nicer, but in my opinion, all spiderman movies are awesome. Again, I was at Station18 Jusco cinema with MeiSan

Dare to Dream II 2012

Mid semester break had started and yet another delayed post

23rd March 2012
We had this program known as Dare to Dream 2, the 3 time joining this event organized by Electrical and Electronic Engineering Student Society (E3SS).
The first time it was held, the event was known as E3 Day and I was the Committee of Logistics.
The second time it was held, the event was renamed into Dare to Dream and I was the Head of Promotion and Publication
This time, Dare to Dream 2, I was the Project Director.

I had lots of fun managing this event although I have to rush a lot of things in order to make the event a success. Nonetheless, during the event time, I had lots of fun.

PuiSan, Me, BanSiong & SiewSan
During E3 Day, I tried very hard to and had this mission communicate with a "down-syndrome" boy who wont speak a word from SK Si Puteh
During Dare to Dream, where SK Jernalik came, I was sitting in the seminar room all day doing the montage and in the end, produce the best montage of my life so far.
This time, Dare to Dream 2, happened to have a case where a kid from SK Rempai Tujuh stepped onto a rusted nail and bleed on his leg. I carry him all the way to the clinic and back to the Pocket D.

and concluding with a Tuneful and Musicify Awesome performance by the Chinese Orchestra

and most important, photos after the event...=)

SEDEX30 Family Day

18th June 2012

SEDEX30 is back and we had family day as usual to strengthen the bonds between committees and HICOMs. Committees get to know each other, play games, have fun and know respective jobscopes of each department.

From being:
EDX27 - Committee of Secretariat Department
SEDEX28 - Head of Secretariat Department
SEDEX29 - Event Manager + Special Task Committee

Finally, my last ovation in SEDEX30 would be Project Director. I am indeed very fortunate to become the Project Director of SEDEX30, it's like my wish was granted. From a small little committee to today's position isn't like a piece of cake. Lot's of hard work had been put in and I could say it was partially based on a little of luck too.

Hereby, I would like to share some of my greatest memories in EDX/SEDEX before becoming Project Director in SEDEX30

EDX27 - Engineering Design Exhibition 27 was the 27th time it was held in UTP since establishing in 1998. As usual, I went to committee recruitment interviews and actually had a hard time on deciding which department to enter. Finally, I made up my mind to enter Secretariat Department and was chosen by Jian Hao, the Head of Department at that time. During department meeting, I get to strengthen up relationships with seniors such as Robert, Irene, Ruth and Wan Fang, whom all of them teach me a lot of things and guide me all the way through until EDX27 ends. EDX27 in Secretariat Department was indeed very fun and I actually decided to continue in EDX28 as Secretariat Committee again.

SEDEX28 - EDX has changed it's name and rebranded into Science and Engineering Design Exhibition by our Chairman - Mr Zamri. Before the event even started, I was shocked that none of my seniors decided to remain in Secretariat Department and thus I was selected as the Head of Secretariat Department after being interviewed by the Event Manager of SEDEX28, Yvonne. Throughout the whole SEDEX28 was truly amazing, I was instructed to invite Primary and Secondary schools around Tronoh and Batu Gajah and in the end, I managed to get 4 primary schools which is a good start. All the jobscopes of Secretariat Department was successfully and efficiently completed with the help of my 7 wonderful committees, Charles, Pui San, Eevon, Woei Luen, Ching, Irene and Lin Kiat.

SEDEX29 - I again decided to continue in SEDEX but this time i was selected as the Event Manager but the position name was changed into Special Task Committee. However, I'm still in charge of Event Division which only comprise of Event Management Protocol, Secretariat and Prizes and Sponsorship Department. Other than managing these departments, my primary jobscope was to invite schools around Perak, Kedah and Penang to participate in SEDEX29. After weeks of hardwork and visitation with my ambassadors and Fedawin, I managed to get 29 teams from schools all around to participate, which was actually a tremendous achievement.

SEDEX30  - Rumors were heard that the top 2 position - Project Director and Assistant Project Director will be taken over by staffs. If it was actually in this case, I did not plan to continue in SEDEX30. However, later did I find out that there was some miscommunication between the previous chairman Mr Zamri and higher authorities. For the new chairman of SEDEX30, Dr Dennis Ling was selected and I took up the Project Director position, which was actually my dream once when I was in EDX27. Without realizing time passes so fast, I have been in EDX/SEDEX for the 4th time. Let's hope SEDEX30 goes on smoothly and history is once made again.

Photo to be put into my Nametag of SEDEX30

Me and Chun Liang - Both of us were the Head of respective Departments in SEDEX28. He did not join in SEDEX29 but decided to re-join in SEDEX30. Awesome Promotion and Publication HOD! but he choose to be AHOD this time.. =.='

Music for Life

16th June 2012
This could be only a short post because at this very moment, I have been busy with various things. I could only spare 5 minutes to write this post and thus, I'm actually speeding with my vocabulary now. Nonetheless, Euphonious 2012 have already ended and this could be my 3rd last event that I'm going to participate in UTP. I was in Technical and Media Department and throughout the event, I was in the audio room all the time and witnessing complicated audio systems.

When the event ended, I manage to grab a photo with my coursemate, Amin who was also the participant of Euphonious as an electric guitarist for his team "Bro's Code". I truly supported his band to the max, but his band only turned out as 2nd runners up. Furthermore, Amin also wont the Best Accompanist award and here's the photo.

Tuning in an Afro Circus

8th June 2012

I have been suffering from exhaustion and fatigue due to numerous work loads bestowed upon me in this new semester of Second Year Second Semester in UTP. Good news is that recently, I have just received my Second Year First Semester's results which turned out to be above average and satisfying. I hope I can keep up the momentum going this semester and hopefully maintain my CGPA.

However, in hand, I have too much work load such as being the Digital, Media and Technical Committee of Euphonious 2012,  Project Director for both Dare to Dream 2 and SEDEX30. Not only that, assignments, homework, projects, quizzes and thesis are all pending to be done during the weekends.

Just a few days ago, I saw this astonishing  view from my room in UTP and decided to take a photo of it. I really like this view as it gives me a peaceful and wonderful feeling to sit on my study table

As the Project Director of SEDEX30, I was involved in the Committee Recruitment Drive held on Tuesday, 5th June 2012. The response of it was magnificent and we managed to improvise our database with fresh and dedicated committee members.

On the 6th June 2012, Wednesday, I had a dinner with all the Michaelians studying in UTP. The dinner was to get around all the ex-Michaelians to meet up and share thoughts about our courses and lifestyle in UTP.

Today, 8th of June 2012, Charles, Mei San and I went to Jusco to watch 2 movies to relax ourselves, Men In Black 3 and Madagascar 3. It was actually my suggestion to watch 2 movies on 1 night, and they accepted my challenge. It wasn't my first time watching 2 back to back movies but indeed, it could be tiring and frustrating if the movies are not good.

However, both the movies did not let us down as the sense of humour of both the movies are very high. We laughed throughout both movies and the most during Madagascar 3.

Short synopsis : Jay going back to the past to save Kay from an alien trying to kill him

Short synopsis: Alex,  Martin, Gloria and Melman joining a circus troop and encountered many humourous scenes. Must really watch this movie again

I went to Chatime today to get this new card

Both the tickets and the card
